Licensed Counsellor

KB09802 | PA09425

Dr. Divya is a registered counsellor with the Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (KB09802, PA09425). She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Psychology from Upper Iowa University, Malaysia, a Master’s Degree in Professional Counsellor and a PhD in Counselling from University of Malaya, Malaysia. She has worked with different age groups while taking a client-centred and collaborative approach, honouring each person’s lived experience, values and cultural background. She has worked with clients from various backgrounds such as working adults, teens and high school students who are in the midst of selecting their academic and career pathways.

She primarily works on concerns regarding anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, anger management, academic and career challenges.

Her path into counselling grew from a genuine interest in understanding people and their inner worlds. Alongside her work as a counsellor, she is involved in research and community mental health initiatives. This balance between research and counselling allows her to integrate evidence-based approaches into therapy in ways that feel natural, accessible and relevant to everyday life.

Her therapeutic approach draws from evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Choice Theory & Reality Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). She utilises these approaches according to each client’s needs and is deeply committed to ethical and compassionate practice. Rather than rushing toward solutions, she believes in gently exploring what feels important to you, helping you build insight, resilience, and self-compassion over time.

She offers a warm, gentle and supportive space where you can pause, breathe and feel heard. Beginning counselling can feel overwhelming and her hope is to provide an environment where you feel safe enough to share at your own pace, without pressure or judgment.

Whether you are navigating emotional stress, life transitions, relationship challenges or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, she is here to support you with care and attentiveness. Reaching out for support is a meaningful step, and you do not have to take it perfectly. Her aim is to make counselling feel gentle, grounding and human so that you can feel supported as you move toward greater clarity, balance and well-being, one step at a time.

She conducts sessions in English, Malay (basic) and Tamil.
