Dr. Kanendra is a clinician in General Practice and a Mental Health Practitioner with an interest in supporting individuals through challenges affecting their emotional and psychological wellbeing. His background in General Practice has given him a holistic perspective on healthcare, recognising that mental health does not exist in isolation from physical health, relationships, work, lifestyle, and the circumstances people experience in everyday life. As a Mental Health Practitioner, he is particularly interested in helping individuals better understand what they are experiencing, identify factors that may be contributing to their difficulties, and develop practical ways of managing them.

He believes that seeking support is not a sign of weakness and that everyone deserves a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment in which they can speak openly about their thoughts, feelings and experiences.

His approach is patient-centred and collaborative by taking the time to understand each person’s individual circumstances, concerns, strengths and goals before working together to determine the most appropriate way forward. His areas of interest include anxiety, stress, emotional diƯiculties, burnout, adjustment to life changes, relationship and interpersonal concerns, self-esteem, resilience and general psychological wellbeing. He is also passionate about mental health education and early intervention, helping individuals develop greater self-awareness and practical mental fitness skills that can support their wellbeing in the longer term.

Dr. Kanendra recognises that taking the first step towards a mental health consultation can sometimes feel difficult, particularly when someone is unsure whether what they are experiencing is “serious enough” to seek help. He believes that patients do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out, and that a consultation can simply be an opportunity to talk through what has been happening and understand their options. His role is to listen without judgement, provide an evidence-informed clinical perspective, and work with each individual at a pace that feels appropriate. Where additional assessment, treatment or specialist support may be beneficial, he will also help guide patients towards the appropriate next steps. Ultimately, his goal is to create a
space where patients feel heard, understood and supported while taking meaningful steps towards better mental and emotional wellbeing.
