Dr Joshua Emmanuel is an experienced medical doctor with a broad clinical background spanning primary care, emergency medicine, occupational health and maritime medicine. He is committed to providing patient-centred, evidence-based and compassionate care, with experience managing a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions, trauma and emergency situations. Currently practising as a General Practitioner, Dr Joshua manages acute and chronic illnesses, conducts health assessments, provides preventive healthcare and health promotion, and performs minor surgical and wound-care procedures.
His diverse clinical experience has shaped a practical and holistic approach to caring for patients across different healthcare environments.
His professional journey also includes serving as a Senior Doctor aboard cruise ships, where he was responsible for the medical care of passengers and crew, emergency response, infection prevention and control, medical evacuations and multidisciplinary coordination. He has also been involved with Malaysia’s National Crisis Preparedness Response Centre (CPRC), strengthening his experience in crisis response, risk assessment and public-health emergencies.
Dr Joshua has a particular interest in mental health and psychosocial well-being. He holds a Certificate in Mental Health from the Malaysian Society for Academic Psychiatry and is a Psychosocial Trained Person under the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Malaysia, supporting his ability to recognise and address psychosocial risks and workplace well-being.
He believes that good healthcare goes beyond treating a medical condition. It involves understanding each person as a whole, recognising the connection between physical, mental and emotional health, and empowering individuals to take an active role in improving their overall health and quality of life.
